Join the Digital Career Institute

We are seeking a talented and passionate Web Developer based in Berlin to join our team full-time in a hybrid work setting.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• designing, developing, and maintaining our homepage running on WordPress
• contributing to new Landing Pages, with a focus on creating custom plugins
• working extensively with Elementor to deliver dynamic and engaging web experiences The ideal candidate should have proficiency in communicating in German with stakeholders.

You have demonstrable experience in WordPress development, proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, and front-end technologies, and a strong understanding of Elementor's features and customization capabilities.

Your Tasks

Technical Development and Optimization

• WordPress Plugin Development: Build custom WP plugins to extend site functionality and integrate with third-party services
• Elementor Customization: Update and customize our Elementor theme, ensuring optimal user experience and responsiveness
• Performance Optimization: Ensure the performance and scalability of our website, optimizing load times and ensuring responsive design across all devices
• Quality Assurance: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code - perform code reviews and ensure best practices are followed
• Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with the latest WordPress and plugin updates, as well as emerging trends in web development

Collaboration and Maintenance

• Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plugins and general site functionality
• Collaboration: Work closely with designers and content creators to implement designs and improve user experience

Your Skills

Required skills and qualifications:

WordPress

• Strong experience in WordPress theme and plugin development
• Hands-on experience with Elementor, including creating custom widgets and templates
• Solid understanding of WordPress hooks, filters, and best practices for WP development

Code

• Proficiency with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL
• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React (or similar is a plus)
• Experience working with REST APIs and integrating external services
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Website

• Knowledge of SEO best practices and web performance optimization techniques
• Familiarity with the integration and best practices of Google & HubSpot tracking

Communication

• Strong proficiency in speaking and understanding both German and English
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Experience in deploying projects using GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with popular page builders (e.g., WPBakery, Beaver Builder).
• Knowledge of WordPress security best practices
